Marco Olivieri


Marco Olivieri was born on 1974. He graduated in 1996 in organ and organ composition at the Felice Evaristo Conservatoire Dall'Abaco in Verona with Umberto Forni, and he perfected himself at the Academy of Ancient Italian Music for organ in Pistoia. He deepens the organ improvisation with Jan Raas and he studied also the harpsichord with Sergio Vartolo and Federico Braga at the Lucio Campiani Conservatory in Mantua, and with Elizabeth Joye in France. For jazz music, he studied piano with Paolo Birro in Verona and with Piolico Trio he took part in the specialization and high qualification course of the jazz trio held by Stefano Battaglia, Paolino Dalla Porta and Fabrizio Sferra at the Siena-Jazz association. In 2002 he distinguished himself in the master-class held by Stefano Bollani at Perugia-Classic, deserving the award of the scholarship. For his training as a composer he studied with many artists as Valentino Donella, Davide Liani, Azio Corghi, Mauro Bonifacio, Marco Lena and Alessandro Solbiati. The catalog of his compositions includes pieces for piano, chamber music, choral and orchestra, as well as numerous original jazz and soundtracks. He also writes for theater, computer companies, radio programs. His composition "The origin of the stars" for soloists, children's choir and chamber orchestra, receives special mention at the "Operaj International Competition", organized by Opera domani AS.LI.CO, Region of Lombardy, Real Theater of Madrid, Opera Royal de Wallonie. He collaborates with the "Babilonia Teatri" company of Verona and with the theater of "Le Briciole" of Parma, for which he writes and performs throughout the country. He collaborates also with the writer and director Mariusz Wojtowicz for whom he writes soundtracks. The short film "Lights", with its own original music and signed by the Polish author, has been awarded in numerous European festivals. Years ago his work "descent into hell and back" for string orchestra, directed by Paolo Carbone, inaugurated the concert season of the "Roma Tre Orchestra" with the world premiere in Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome. With the trio in his name (completed by Daniele Basirico on bass and Claudio Sbrolli on drums) he released two albums: "Onda anomala" in May 2012 with Zone di musica label and "Il mondo fatto a scala" in June 2015 with Filibusta Records. At the moment there are only three albums in solo piano : "Fantasy, melody and dance" of October 2013 and "Trascorriamo piano" of 2017 released for Filibusta Records, and "Rito interiore" of December 2014 released for Terre sommerse. He collaborates in the Harmuz Trio with Davide Recchia and Alberto Girardi for the album "Quadri" for Terre sommerse in 2013. He is the coordinator of NED, a collective of free improvisation and music research in Rome with the eponymous label that published (only on digital store) the albums A story to tell, Gli Elettronici, Missa Extemporanea, Veleno A Tempo Debito, Oboe Sommerso and The Body Sound. He plays permanently with the oboist Marika Lombardi with whom he published the 2016 album "Sul far del mattino". Lately he's including in his compositional interests the "Canzone" genre, writing lyrics and music. With the song Throw Away, lyrics of Gianluca Fiocco, he was invited to the "Sounds from the heart" held in Krakow in November 2017.
